Our alumnus Zekai Li graduated in 2013 with a double major in Actuarial Science and Statistics & Computer Science. Zekai then earned a Master of Financial Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, before joining Milliman’s Financial Risk Management practice. There he started as a Quantitative Analyst in the Portfolio Management Group, mainly working on their managed risk strategies but gradually switching to focus more on research and development. Zekai is now the Director of Strategy and Implementation, leading the team’s development work and working with other technology teams. Zekai holds the CFA, FRM, FSA, and MAAA titles. He is an active marathon runner and also enjoys video games in his personal life.

With a strong desire to support the next generation of actuaries, Zekai helped establish the Zekai Li Scholarship to recognize actuarial science students at UIUC for their academic excellence and command of Mandarin Chinese or another language other than English.
